Sunday, September 26 -- Union County
“Crazy for Cranberries” Event at the Miller-Cory House Museum
2-4 pm
Kick off the fall with a visit to Westfield’s treasured Miller-Cory House
Museum and learn all about cranberries! Discover the fascinating history of this all-American berry and learn how berries are harvested. Other cranberry-themed activities will include story time, a scavenger hunt, and crafts for the kids.
Members of the Cooking Committee will include herbs common to the 18th century in demonstrating open hearth cooking for visitors including the star of the event, the cranberry .
Authentic open hearth cooking is a unique feature of the museum’s programming. Volunteers prepare early American recipes using utensils, techniques, and seasonal ingredients of the time in the Frazee Building, a separate structure on the grounds, which, like the museum, dates to the 18th century. Visitors may also view the kitchen and herb gardens, which include plantings common to colonial days.
Admission is $5.00 age 13 and older, $3.00 ages 3 to 12 and free under age 3. The Miller-Cory House Museum is located at 614 Mountain Avenue in Westfield. Admission is $5.00 for ages 13 and older, $3.00 ages 3 to 12 and free under age 3. For more information, please call 908-232-1776 or email millercorymuseum@gmail.com.
