Decoration Day Celebration Historic Longstreet Farm 44 Longstreet Road, Holmdel 07733 Monday, May 31, 2021, 12:00-3:00 PM (all ages, under 18 with adult) Before it was Memorial Day, Americans celebrated Decoration Day. This family holiday originated soon after the Civil War when women decided to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. Today we call this special holiday Memorial Day. It was a time for family reunions and fun-filled visits. Join in the celebration as the staff of Longstreet Farm enjoys an old-fashioned Decoration Day.

Eco-Kayak Tour of the Manasquan Reservoir Manasquan Reservoir, Environmental Center 331 Georgia Tavern Road, Howell 07731 Sunday, May 30, 2021, 1:00-2:30 PM (ages 10 and up, under 18 with adult) Tour the Manasquan Reservoir with a Park System Naturalist guide and experience nature close up. If lucky, we’ll glimpse bald eagles resting, great blue herons stalking prey or turtles basking in the sun. No experience is needed. Basic paddling instruction will be given before the trip begins. Each trip’s course will vary according to the water level, weather, and ability of the group. Single and tandem kayaks are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Weight limits are 250 lbs. for single kayaks and 400 lbs. for tandems. One Session $25.00 Per Person

Saturday, May 29 -- Mercer County Trenton City Museum and Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey Team Up  to Open Summer with an Artists Reception and Outdoor Concert in Cadwalader Park On Saturday, May 29, the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie Mansion, located in the heart of Trenton’s Cadwalader Park, will hold an  Artists Reception to celebrate its highly regarded  Women Artists, Trenton Style,  featuring works of 11 contemporary artists of the greater Trenton area and curated by noted Trenton artist Mel Leipzig.  Visitors to the reception, which will run from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, will have the opportunity to meet with the show’s artists and talk with them about their works.  The museum’s doors will be open to facilitate air circulation, temperatures will be taken, and masks and distancing will be required.   Timed entry to the museum may be reserved in advance at  www. ellarslie .org  or by calling 609-989-1191. Saturday, May 29 - Hopewell Township, Mercer County Haying Learn how to make hay the old-fashioned way...head up to the fields where farmers are cutting, tedding, and raking loose hay to store in the barn for the horses!  This program runs from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. A children’s craft program will be available from 11:00 to 3:00 for a small materials fee.  Please note that all 2021 Saturday programs will be modified to encourage social distancing and reflect current State guidelines for public events. Visitors are required to carry masks at all times, and wear them when social distancing isn't possible. Howell Living Farm represents typical farm life between 1890 and 1910.
