    Register early for what’s certain to be a sell-out event! Morven is delighted to welcome Robin A. Jess, former Executive Director of the American Society of Botanical Artists and Coordinator of The New York Botanical Garden’s Botanical Art and Illustration Program, for a day-long workshop filled with the scent and color of Morven’s historic peonies. Beginning with a simple line drawing, participants will capture the form and feel of these airy, showy flowers. Then, watercolor in the traditional botanical methods will be taught with demonstrations and personal attention. All skill levels are welcome, and participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch to enjoy in Morven’s garden.

     The Mendham Borough Historical Society meeting takes place on Tuesday, May 28, at 1:30 PM in the Garabrant Center, 4 Wilson Street, Borough. Following a brief business agenda, Carol Simon Levin presents the program, Reclaiming Our Voice: NewJersey’s Central Role in the Fight for Woman Suffrage.  In our early years, NJ was the only state where women had the right to vote, lost it in 1807, won it back five generations later, the state’s role in the struggle largely overlooked. Many of the women involved in the national movement were from NJ – Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Tenafly, founder and author with Susan B. Anthony of Woman Suffrage movements and publications; Lucy Stone, S. Orange, “No taxation without representation”; Portia Gage and over 100 women from Vineland who brought their own ballot boxes to the polls to cast presidential votes.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th from 9:30-10:30 am, Museum Director, John Simko will lead a guided walking tour starting from Memorial Park (Mudhole) to the Nutley Museum, stopping along the way at the locations of Nutley's long-gone mills and other historic sites.  For more information or to register, email or call 973-752-8984 and leave a message with your phone number and email address where you can be reached.  Tour is limited to 40 walkers and registration is required in order to participate.
