Intrigued about what might lie behind closed doors in a museum? Out of the Box: Rare & Unusual Objects, our new exhibit at the Gloucester County Historical Society Museum, will give visitors a peek into some of our most exceptional artifacts. Objects that have not been on view to the public for years will be out on display for all to see. We have chosen an array of unique items from every category imaginable in the museum’s collection. Most of these artifacts are between 100 – 200 years old, and haven’t seen the light of day in decades. Come to experience the rare, odd, quirky, beautiful, and even creepy treasures just waiting to be revealed. The exhibit opens on Sunday, April 29 when admission will be free that day! The exhibit will be closed on Mondays, and summer Sundays, but open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00 - 4:00 pm from May 2 through the summer months. Monday hours will resume on Sept…

Many important donors and members favored erecting a headquarters building for MCHA on the lot occupied by the Red Bank high school at the intersection of Branch Avenue and Harding Road. This large structure, dating from 1901 and facing on Branch, was torn down in 1977.

    Plan a visit to the State Museum's Planetarium to enjoy the festive annual tradition, Laser Holiday Magic! Dazzling laser lights and images dance across the dome to classic holiday music favorites. This popular show returns to the Planetarium on weekends beginning November 10. Special weekday shows available on November 23, and during the winter school break (Dec. 26-28).

Historic Princeton Walking Tour

Enjoy a 1.9 mile, two-hour walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Bainbridge House, Nassau Hall, the University Chapel, and Palmer Square. The early history of Princeton, the founding of the University, and the American Revolution are just some of the stories from Princeton’s history that you will learn on your tour.

Admission: $7 per adult; $4 children ages 6 to 12; free for children age 5 and under. Tours begin in front of the Bainbridge House, 158 Nassau Street, Princeton, NJ. Tour begins at 2:00 pm and ends at 4:00 pm. Walk up ticket sales are cash only; guides cannot provide change. Space is limited.  Enjoy the exhibit,"When George Came to Town: June 26, 1778" at the Cranbury Museum, 4 Park Place East. 
The exhibit features items representative of the period when George Washington and his troops marched into Cranbury on their way to the Battle of Monmouth. Copies of Washington's correspondence from Cranbury, along with pictures and ephemera depicting Colonial Cranberry Town are included, along with the recreated dining room of Dr. and Mrs. Hezekiah Stites who hosted George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and the Marquis de Lafayette. The museum is open on Sundays, 1-4 pm, except November 11 and 25. Please come to the Christmas Tea on Sunday, December 2 and see the museum rooms decorated for the holidays.
