SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd at Grover House, 930 West Front Street, Red Bank The 2017 River Rangers Summer Program has successfully concluded and SEVENTY young River Rangers paddled the Navesink  and had a great time! NOW we need HELP to inspect and clean the canoes, the life vests and the canoe trailer. We may also do light repairs on the canoes as well.
NMHA welcomes all River Rangers parents/grandparents/ guardians and all NMHA Members and Friends and the community at large to assist.
Make new friends and have a good time doing good work! We may even entice you with a BBQ!

The Ocean Township Historical Museum, located in the Eden Woolley House in front of the Ocean Library at 703 Deal Road in Ocean, is hosting an Outdoor Antique and Flea Market on parkland behind the museum, 9 to 3, Sunday, October 8 (rain date, Sunday October 15). The event takes place—appropriately enough—in the shadow of the handsome tower on the site that the museum is working to save. All proceeds from the market go to the restoration effort.

The market organizers are now accepting applications (downloadable from the website oceanmuseum.com) from food vendors and organizations or individuals offering antiques, arts and crafts, and vintage, re-purposed, home décor, and flea market items. The fee for a 10’x10’ space i…

Essentially it combines all the elements that create an optimal visitor experience at a historic site, exhibition, or museum. At this workshop we will consider the interpretive planning process and discuss the various elements that are included in an interpretive plan. We will discuss experiences that participants have had-both positive and negative-in visiting historic sites or exhibitions, and we will apply these experiences to an interactive session based on a current exhibition installed at the Alice Paul Institute. The Monmouth County Genealogy Society Topic:                                                 "Finding and Using Immigration Records"      Barbara Ellman will present "They Came and Wanted to Belong: Immigration & Naturalization" at the Sunday, September 10, 2017 meeting of the Monmouth County Genealogy Society. The meeting, at the Community Center, 72 Broad Street, Eatontown, begins at 1:30 p.m.
    Ms. Ellman will discuss locating immigration and naturalization records as the primary sources for the information. She is a professional genealogist with more than 15 years of experience locating family on four continents and has traced her own family back to 1760 in Eastern Europe. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and is a Vice- President of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County.
    The program is free and the public is welcome.

The program features Dr. Richard Veit of Monmouth University and includes long-ago industry views in a special slide presentation. A driving tour (guided bus or self-guided) will highlight many of the best examples of Perth Amboy's surviving architectural terra cotta. The program ends with a reception overlooking Raritan Bay.
