As a "war orphan" herself, Kiely shares the obstacles that families face who have lost loved ones in war. She also pays tribute to programs and organizations that provide recognition and support for military families.

A presentation and book signing with author/storyteller
Carol Simon Levin

There were many early 20th-century aviatrices-besides Amelia Earhart!-who were every bit as brave and daring as their male counterparts. Flying in flimsy wood and canvas aeroplanes, Aida de Acosta, Raymonde de Laroche, Hélène Dutrieu, Marie Marvingt, Harriet Quimby, Katherine Stinson, Ruth Law, Bessie Coleman and Elinor Smith (discover her Hadley Airport connection!) awed and thrilled people on the ground-executing audacious acrobatic aerial maneuvers, soloing across the English Channel, setting records, barn-storming and buzzing beneath New York's bridges. Undaunted by male skepticism, they were determined to show that anything that men could do, they could do too!

Image
Wednesday, August 2 - Passaic County
On Wednesday August 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in Lambert Castle (3 Valley Road, Paterson NJ), the Passaic County Historical Society welcomes Peyton Dixon of American Historical Theatre as he portrays Theodore Roosevelt: "American in the Arena." When President McKinley was assassinated in 1901, Vice President Theodore Roosevelt bounded into Washington, D.C. as the youngest president in American history. Bringing his vigorous persona (and his boisterous family) to the White House, "TR" helped catapult the U.S. into a new century.
Roosevelt's accomplishments were plentiful and diverse: War hero to Nobel Peace Prize winner, naturalist to imperialist. The 26th President promoted progressive reform and stronger government control of business. Believing that the security of the American People would be achieved through leadership on the World Stage, President Roosevelt expanded US. influence around the globe.

Historical Society of Princeton Exhibits Frank Lloyd Wright Drawings

The exhibition features architectural drawings by Wright from the Historical Society's collection, telling the story of Wright's sole Princeton clients and the Frank Lloyd Wright house that could have been.

Two drawings that remain (an elevation and floor plan) will be on display at the Updike Farmstead through the end of the year.
