Each July for the past eight years, young girls have brought their dolls and favorite adults to the Eden Woolley House for the annual American Doll Tea. This year, the popular event is set for 1 to 3:30, Sunday, July 16, (rain date, July 23). Guests who have also visited the American Girl Stores know it as the best value around!
The grounds of the Woolley House are dotted with tents and tables where the girls complete a custom-made craft with the help of our teen docents and at the end of the day, enjoy homemade, child friendly treats, lemonade, and iced tea.
The girls hear an original story of the sisters who lived in the Woolley House in the 1800s. They tour the Museum, filled for the day with doll collections and living history demonstrations. A fully stocked Doll Shop offers hand-made doll clothes and accessorie…

Absecon Lighthouse will be open every day July and August, from 10am to 5pm, and Thursdays until 8pm, with the last climb 1/2 hour before closing. Adding to the excitement of sunset climbs on Thursday nights will be FREE YOGA classes instructed by Northfield's Grace & Glory Yoga Studio, and Ken's Ice Cream Truck selling soft-serve ice cream & frozen treats. The first FREE YOGA class is Thursday, July 6th. BYOM - bring your own mat!
    Parking, exhibits & Keeper's Cottage museum are free. Admission to climb the 228 steps to the top is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 4-12, and $3 for Atlantic City residents; active military are free. Events beginning July 3 -- Cape May County     The 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, Cape May's Victorian House Museum, 1048 Washington St., Cape May, N.J., is a wonderful setting for children and their parents to explore this summer. A variety of scheduled and self-guided tours and experiences await that are geared toward youngsters.
On Wednesdays, July 5 and 19, Aug. 2 and 16 at 9:30 a.m., children can hear a pirate story over a yummy breakfast at the Carriage House Café & Tearoom on the grounds of Physick Estate, during Breakfast with the Pirates. Children can put on a pirate vest and eye patch, hunt for treasure on the lovely grounds, and enjoy some surprises. Admission is $18 and includes activities and breakfast.

SHREWSBURY - Gather with Monmouth County Historical Association for its historic celebration in honor of Independence Day with a public reading of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday, July 4, at Allen House, 400 Sycamore Avenue, starting at 10 a.m.
     Association President Linda Bricker will act as master of ceremonies. Mayor Donald W. Burden of Shrewsbury and Reverend Lisa Mitchell from Christ Church will also join in the festivities. The bells at Christ Church will ring in honor of the signing. Members of the public are invited to participate in reading parts of the Declaration. Shrewsbury Boy Scouts, along with their Troop Leader, will serve as color guard during the Pledge of Allegiance. Attendees will have the special opportunity to see one of the original copies of the Declaration, on loan to the MCHA from the archives of the Monmouth County Library in Manalapan for this day only.

AMERICAN PASTIMES AT INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION  AT HISTORIC COLD SPRING VILLAGE
   Celebrate all things American at Historic Cold Spring Village's annual Independence Day Celebration, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 1th and 2th, from 10am to 4:30pm. A variety of patriotic family activities, programs and music will be taking place and the Village's restored historic buildings will be open, featuring demonstrations of Early American trades and crafts. This event is generously sponsored by the Brigantine VFW.
     At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the Dennisville Inn, there will be a War of 1812 Militia Muster for children ages 5 to 12.      MORRISTOWN, NJ - On Sunday, July 2 from 1 p.m to 4 p.m., as part of Revolutionary Times 2017, Morris County Historical Society will host a wide range of activities including tours of the current exhibits, 1917: World War, Women's Rights, and Weaponry Sciences and the new, limited-engagement exhibit, Sabers, Swords, Guns, and Glory: Militaria in Morris County; "Hearts of Hope," hand-painted hearts to be donated to local veterans' associations, and "Operation Gratitude," handwritten postcards to be sent to soldiers and veterans throughout the U.S. and overseas.
     At 2:30 p.m., there will be a hike to a Revolutionary era Powder Mill archaeological site along the Whippany River. The guided hike tour will follow Patriots' Path to where the mill once stood, giving an opportunity to learn more about the history of this resource, once used by Washington's Continental Army…

    Start your July 4th holiday at a Star Spangled Sing-along! JoinPiscataway Township school students and adult vocal and instrumental groups on the lawn at the Metlar-Bodine House, Piscataway Township's official historical museum, in singing traditional 18th century-to-present-day American patriotic songs! And everyone will sing "Happy Birthday" to America before enjoying birthday cake!  Guests must bring their own chairs.  The Dutch Door Gift Shop will be open.

Passaic County - Paterson - 1946 DuMont Westminster

The Passaic County Historical Society is happy to announce that it will now be holding regular demonstrations of our working 1946 DuMont Westminster, made right here in Passaic County. Donated to the Society in 2016, the Westminster not only contains a television but also a record player and AM/FM radio. Through these demonstrations, we hope more people can be exposed to and learn about Passaic County's important role in telecommunications history.
     All demonstrations take place at Lambert Castle (3 Valley Road, Paterson NJ) and are free with regular museum admission (Adults $5, Seniors $4 and Children $3). Seating is available upon request. Demonstrations are approximately 45 minutes in length.
